DAY 3 _ HE, IS, BESIDE US[me]. HYMN 93 #GiveThanks MUSIC

Today was Sunday #2 of no singing or even humming--but my heart was more at peace with the notion. The opening hymn was Prayer of Thanksgiving. We pulled out our hymn books that we take in our diaper bag as a habit of wanting to be able to read the words with our our young children and not have them think we are on our "phones".

My eyes became wet as I read through the start of verse two:

Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining,

Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine;

So from the beginning the fight we were winning;

Thou, Lord, wast at our side;

All glory be thine!

Beside US [me, my family and the little COVID respecting, distancing, mask wearing congregation, the world] to guide us, our God with us joining. In those words, I almost could not see or sing them in my heart as my eyes were blurred...but it was as if the Lord himself was reminding/saying to my heart, He was beside us/me, joining with me in the silence of listening when we can't sing. Being beside me through the craziness of the days.  It was a beautiful impression.

Church was wonderful! I am so thankful I was able to partake of the sacrament. When the sacrament cloth covering is gently laid over the bread and water--sometimes a wrinkle comes up in how the fabric settles.  I am always filled with gratitude when a deacon or priest will take notice and take the time to smooth it out. It is a reminder to me the tenderness we should keep of love and adoration for the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ and His atoning body/blood.

The speakers were sublime, inspired, and obviously worked to have the spirit as they prepared and shared. Their messages were of hope and gratitude focused in and on the Savior. I wish all my family could have been there to hear their words as I have done a somewhat poor job trying to retell their talks!

In between the talks, was a father daughter duet on the piano of My Heavenly Father Loves Me. which my little two year old started to sing in our pew. 😍

This is a recording of Alan Walker (my friend's visiting dad) playing at a different ward meeting... but this is the song he and Mallory played today. It is beautiful! And what they were playing about [lyrics below] is equally beautiful. Thank you for sharing your gifts of music!

1. Whenever I hear the song of a bird
Or look at the blue, blue sky,
Whenever I feel the rain on my face
Or the wind as it rushes by,
Whenever I touch a velvet rose
Or walk by our lilac tree,
I’m glad that I live in this beautiful world
Heav’nly Father created for me.

2. He gave me my eyes that I might see
The color of butterfly wings.
He gave me my ears that I might hear
The magical sound of things.
He gave me my life, my mind, my heart:
I thank him rev’rently
For all his creations, of which I’m a part.
Yes, I know Heav’nly Father loves me.

The whole meeting was a spiritual feast. Thank you Heavenly Father, for letting me get to partake in such beauty church meeting.

Happiness is: this statement from my four year old. Never-mind that it was at 5:30  this morning.  They put their chairs in a circle and each had a copy of  The Book of Mormon... Oh, the tenderness--seeing them "study" my favorite book!

WHEELCHAIR--OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE!

Sent for the one.

Brother Travis Storey got up and bore a beautiful testimony Sunday. Truly God is mindful of each of us—of “the one.”

Travis is a busy father of seven. On top of his Dad duties, his amazing wife Kiji has been fighting for her life against cancer. Her battle in and of itself is a miracle. She and her devotion to God even in the midst of the storm is a great inspiration to all who know her.

Travis is finishing his dental program and working with clients up in Salt Lake. All that is on the Storey family’s plate makes his morning routine all the more admirable.

Travis has the habit going to the gym. Before the gym (which he goes to in the early morning hours) he finds a church parking lot where he parks and spends some time reading the scriptures and in prayer.

Recently during in his morning routine, Travis had an impression to go to a specific location before going to the gym. He followed that impression and found himself driving near the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon, which is nowhere near the gym. As he drove, he passed what he thought was a wheelchair. The road he was on did not have any sidewalks, and it was dark, cold and windy outside. Travis wondered what a wheelchair was doing out in the middle of nowhere.

Feeling that perhaps someone needed help, he turned his car around and started searching for the wheelchair he had seen. Sure enough, there was a person in the wheelchair. Travis could tell the person was in need, so he pulled his car over and asked what he could do for him. The story that unfolded is amazing.
Apparently this guy, I will call him Joe, had come with some friends into Provo to celebrate a friend’s birthday. They had a great time. But when the evening ended and the cars were loaded up, somehow Joe was left out of the head count. He had no way to contact his friends to say, “Hello, I am still here!”  Joe didn’t know anyone locally he could contact. He just knew he needed to get to Mount Pleasant to make his class the next day and he had no vehicle to get him there.

So what did Joe do? The only thing he could do—he started to wheel himself in the direction of Mount Pleasant. (Note: Mount Pleasant is an hour away from Provo and up through a dangerous canyon.)
He had started his trek in Provo at 9 the previous night and had been wheeling towards his destination until Travis found him around 4:45 a.m. the next morning! Travis said Joe was only about three feet tall and due to a spinal condition wasn’t able to stand upright to straighten his back. He was not dressed properly for the cold and was found shivering. Having shorter arms, Joe moved himself by walking his feet along. With no sidewalks along the road, whenever a car came by, Joe would move his wheelchair off the road so as to not get hit by the passing vehicle. Joe had been praying for someone, anyone, to help him.

Travis later found out that Joe is from California—which “just happens” (I write that in quotes, because nothing ever JUST happens!) to be the same state where Travis served his mission, and from Pleasanton, Travis’s favorite city of his mission.

Joe served a mission at the MTC Call Center for two years, taking calls and working with referrals.  He described his experience there to be difficult, spending hour after hour, day after day in front of a computer screen taking phone calls for what seemed like a fruitless task.  When he found that out, Travis felt the need to testify to Joe that he (Travis) had had several referrals come through while on his mission from people who had contacted the Church through the MTC Call Center.  He felt that Joe needed to hear that the work he had done during those difficult 2 years planted seeds that missionaries from all over were able to harvest and that Travis had personally been able to baptize investigators in Pleasanton, CA, the very city where Joe was from.  Travis thanked Joe for all he had done on his mission. As his morning workout was traded for a trek up to Mount Pleasant, Travis continued talking with Joe as they made the ride together toward Mount Pleasant.

Travis relayed how we are all just like Joe.  We do not physically have a way of getting ourselves back “home.” We needed a Savior to provide the way, to provide the “vehicle” (namely repentance, forgiveness through a perfect Atonement and a resurrection which overcomes the sting of death) to help us make the trek back to Heavenly Father. Travis’s car was the “literal” vehicle for the determined and courageous Joe.
So it can be with all of us, with me! Who on the journey of life needs a “lift”?

On Sunday, Travis bore testimony that that he always studies the Book of Mormon and scriptures before he goes to the gym each morning because it is his “sacred time with … Heavenly Father,” when his mind is the sharpest and he can feel His presence the strongest. Travis said he has had many spiritual experiences and insights during that dedicated time, his spiritual exercise before his physical exercise.
Travis's experience with Joe made me think of a clip I watched where Elder David A. Bednar made a profound statement that has not left me since I heard it. This clip is excellent about an extraordinary thing that took place on the BYUI campus, but what he states at frame 4:02 has left me with a deep profound, lasting insight.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8hMhVE36M0

Did you catch that?!!! Elder Bednar was sent to England for the “one.” The conference and all the other large meetings were great add-ons, but God sent him--for the one!
Brother Storey was sent for the one!

God is mindful of each one. What a blessing and great opportunity is ours to go out daily seeking the ones whom God would have us find, the ones God would have us give a “lift” to with the means He has provided to bring that one just another step closer to their/our eternal destination.

Seek the one.

HOW CAN I INCREASE MY SPIRITUAL EXERCISE?
Brother Storey was kind enough to share with me some things he has at the front of his study journal. The promises are clear for those who will take the Book of Mormon into their daily study. It has changed my life forever, and continues to bring me closer to Christ. I LOVE Brother's Storey's list and add my testimony to the truth of what he testified 100%! (Thank you Brother Storey for following through and sharing your story!)

President Ezra Taft Benson  It is not just that the Book of Mormon teaches us truth, though it indeed does that. It is not just that the Book of Mormon bears testimony of Christ, though it indeed does that, too. But there is something more. There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path. The scriptures are called “the words of life” (D&C 84:85), and nowhere is that more true than it is of the Book of Mormon. When you begin to hunger and thirst after those words, you will find life in greater and greater abundance. (Ensign, Nov 1986, 4)
President Joseph Smith (Jr)  Concerning this record the Prophet Joseph Smith said: “I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.”
1 Nephi 15:24  Nephi interpreting the vision of the tree of life to his brethren speaking of the iron rod.  “…it was the word of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction.

D&C 21:5-6  Revelation given to the prophet Joseph Smith, “for his word ye shall receive, as if from mine own mouth”, “For by doing these things the gates of hell shall not prevail against you; yea, and the Lord God will disperse the powers of darkness from before you, and cause the heavens to shake for your good, and his names glory

2 Nephi 32:3  Nephi’s words “feast upon the words of Christ: for behold the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.”

I’ve noticed three things that occur when reading the book of Mormon prayerfully.  Number one on the list always occurs. The second and third don't always occur but do very often.
     1.    The presence of the spirit is abundant through all facets of my life that day.
     2.    I find principles come alive from off the page that I need to learn and which I can directly apply to an area of my life. [And I, Bryndi, would add that often the principles that have just come alive for me, God often places others on my path that are in need of and blessed by the exact same principles.]
     3.    Flashes of insight, ideas and bits of inspiration occur in my mind while reading that may have nothing to do with the story but non-the less have a purpose in my life in that moment. I have come to know through time that these aren’t random ideas and thoughts but are Gods words unto me that are precious and must be recorded.

I am grateful for wonderful friends who have the gift of reviewing and reworking words! Cindy, thank you!
Happiness is a date night with Mr. Dashing to Temple Square!

"…not really about…sheep and goats."

Well I started this post over a year ago...! And apparently I saved it as a draft ???

be of good cheer
go in search
gather them together
bring them back
[to] the place of water

This is so sweet!

(Miss you Nyk, Carson, Tay and Kiss!)
I was reading Ammon's account of him contending with all the bad guys by cutting off their arms. That story, to me, has always been one about Ammon's courage/bold faith and undaunted spirit against all odds. THIS time however, because of Elder Holland's comment on parables not really being about sheep and goats--I was impressed with the workings of/with the sheep!!

A few questions to consider before reading:

Q's: What is water symbolic of in the scriptures?
Did the sheep ever actually partake of the water when they were first brought?
What was the cause of their scattering?
When brought back to the water again, why were they
1.) not able to drink the water right away?
2.) not scattered the second time, because they were scattered the first time?
       Did they eventually water?
And to whom did they get to return home to?
--
26 And after he had been in the service of the king three days, as he was with the Lamanitish servants going forth with their flocks to the place of water...and all the Lamanites drive their flocks hither, that they may have water—

27 Therefore, as Ammon and the servants of the king were driving forth their flocks to this place of water, behold, a certain number of the Lamanites, who had been with their flocks to water, stood and scattered the flocks of Ammon and the servants of the king, and they scattered them insomuch that they fled many ways.

31 And it came to pass that he [Ammon] flattered them [the servants of the King] by his words, saying: My brethren, be of good cheer and let us go in search of the flocks, and we will gather them together and bring them back unto the place of water; and thus we will preserve the flocks unto the king and he will not slay us.

32 And it came to pass that they went in search of the flocks, and they did follow Ammon, and they rushed forth with much swiftness and did head the flocks of the king, and did gather them together again to the place of water.

33 And those men again stood to scatter their flocks; but Ammon said unto his brethren: Encircle the flocks round about that they flee not; and I go and contend with these men who do scatter our flocks.
34 Therefore, they did as Ammon commanded them, and he went forth and stood to contend with those who stood by the waters of Sebus; and they were in number not a few.
... 39 And when he had driven them afar off, he returned and they watered their flocks and returned them to the pasture of the king... (Alma 17 emphasis added)
I hope my excitement in this subject does not kill the message! In response to the missionary who feels he is everyday/all day just "Home Teaching"... change the word "flock" to "members".

Perhaps for full time missionaries or member missionaries, the temptation is to think that there is only real joy in bringing someone to Christ's living waters who has never yet been. But the truth is, we all have been and partook of His waters before coming here to this earth.

For those members who may have been brought to the waters of baptism, perhaps some have not taken what Christ's waters have to offer by actually "drinking" in the gospel. Perhaps the demons of addiction, lack of commitment, family loyalty/traditions, laziness, sorrow, grief, fear, despair, sadness, struggle with commandment keeping, marital struggles (the list goes on and on) where "standing" ready to scatter whoever was brought to Christ...and those "standings" were successful.

BUT YEA to the missionary (member or full time servants) who are being of good cheer with the inspired assignment of going and searching, swiftly heading off, bringing back, encircling, contending, disarming the opposition, and making a way for a watering! His watering! Then together--heading for the pasture of the King.

It is an exciting time to be alive with God's hastening going on! I testify to all, that the sweetness and real joy is that someone is able and does partake. Whether it is their first mortal experience to the place of water or they have been brought back for the 100th time... when one does partake, one is changed!

Oh the wisdom of our great God!!

be of good cheer
go in search
gather them together
bring them back
[to] the place of water
"together" would imply that there is more than "one" to gather... we are talking about families! And God would have us bring them back TOGETHER to the place of water! Oh the hastening of His work! Oh you missionaries, if you are given such an opportunity--EAT IT UP!

I am grateful for flower "snowball" fights.
Happiness is glistening eyes caught in the dark as one starts to realize that he wants to partake of Christ's water.
Sweet is the joy the gospel brings!
If God allows and grants you the sacred work of going in search, gathering and bring back so one might partake... I promised you, you will count your blessings 10 by 10 and you will be surprised at what the Lord has done!!

Its not really about sheep!

FIVE YEARS AGO

Five years ago today, I was nervously waiting in the airport with 3 or 4 other elders to fly back to Utah.

Shortly after my mission had started, Elder Christensen came out to a zone conference and talked about setting a date of faith. He talked about the only time he was going to meet someone new was to pray and ask the Lord to prepare whoever would sit next to him on the plane as he flew to Hawaii. He and his wife both fasted every week for months, pleading with the Lord to prepare the person on the airplane. Finally the day of his trip came. He sat in his plane seat anticipating who would sit next to him. Down the isle came this man... Hawaiian shirt, chains, very "open" with his shirt. Elder Christensen somewhat rolled his eyes and thought there was no way this man would be up for a gospel conversation. The other man sat down next to him and proceeded to tell Elder Christensen about all the women he was going to see and what he was going to do with them. Elder Christensen went back to reading his paper, but the spirit prompted.

Soon, they were deep in conversation about the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the fact that God had a plan for this man. The man had never heard these truths before, but admitted to Elder Christensen that for several months his soul had been stirring for truth, and he had no idea where it was coming from.

The two men exchanged information and Elder Christensen told the man he would like to have him over with his family and the missionaries when the business trip was over. To which the man replied--well don't you have missionaries in Hawaii?

!!

I heard the talk, and my heart was overwhelmed by the truths of praying and fasting for a time when the Lord will prepare someone to hear the gospel. From that point in my mission, I decided that I could start fasting and praying for the day I would fly home and for whom ever would sit next to me on the plane. I did this for nearly 7 or 8 months, never missing a week. But about 4 to 5 months before finishing the mission it dawned on me, I would be going home with elders and they would be the ones I would be sitting by--so after a good chuck of my mission of fasting and praying for the flight home, I stopped, thinking I wasn't about to be testifying to the elders.

July 14th 2005 found me in the Newark Airport. And as we waited to board the plane to come home--I asked the Elders what their seat numbers were. I think now, there were three of them and one of me. One by one they read off their seat number. All three of them were sitting by each other. When I looked at my number I was randomly several rows away and on the other side of plane. I thought that was odd--but then all at once my mind was flooded with all the praying and fasting I had offered up for whom I would sit next to on the plane. !! My heart started to race and my hands became sweaty. I had honestly thought I would be sitting by elders and that is why I stopped praying.

Well, the first flight, the sweet man next to me asked question after question about the church. He was a truck driver and loved his wife dearly. Missionaries later came to his house and for a time he investigated. I do not know what has happened to him since. The elders on the plane kept looking back and saw my napkin drawing of the plan of salvation. The next plane, because we were headed to Utah I figured there would be a lot of smiles with people knowing who we were.

I was one of the very last people to board. And as I walked down the isle pondering if the person (yes I was not linked by the elders again) would be a member. I saw a younger in his early 30's man sitting next to the only open spot on the plane, my seat. He smiled as he looked at my name tag.

He was not a member but his wife was--although not practicing. They had just had a conversation that week that it was either his parents faith or his wife's parents faith of "Mormons". He had always been apposed by going, but he and his wife just discussed that they needed to find what was best and true for their future family. We talked all the way back to Utah and 4 lessons were taught. The spirit was sweet.

We got off the plane and before the elders and I went to go find our waiting families, two elders ran to find someone sitting waiting for their flight to give one last pass along card. ;) I smiled.

I have no idea whatever came of these two men, but this I do know, that their hearts had been prepared by God.

So sweet and tender are the feelings of the mission. Choice companions, Sr. Missionary couples that became literal family, choice people I met committed to keeping the commandments of God, lessons learned from a mission president and wife that have shaped my life, and then probably the biggest miracle of all... my heart.

5 Years ago today, I came home to a family prepared for ME. A family whom I love with all my heart.
I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is God's true church on the earth. With apostles, prophets, revelation, priesthood and authority from God. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. It is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that Joseph Smith prayed in a grove of trees and because of confusion, had faith enough to ask God our father which church to join. In answer to his prayer God the Father and Jesus Christ, God's son, appeared to Joseph Smith. Called him by name and reveled that at that time, there was no true and living church of God on the earth. But God loves his children, all of us, and he prepared a way for us to not walk in darkness, but to know about Him and His plan for us.

I know surely as I know I am able to breath and walk and talk--that God and Jesus Christ live! And one of my favorite truths is that God allows anyone to know for them selves--the truth. We never need take someone at their word alone, but can, through sincere prayer to God our father, ask to find the truth, ending our prayer with Jesus Christs name--I KNOW God answers prayers.

There is joy to be had in this life. Not just the life to come. And God, who knows every sparrow, certainly knows our lives and what to do to send us peace and happiness. His plan of happiness involved sacrificing his only begotten son, Jesus Christ (whom I love) to show us the way, to know our burdens, that He might make them light. He lived, died and lives again for us! Because of Love. He is Love. “Come unto Me” By Elder Jeffrey R. Holland
In the 11th chapter of Matthew, verses 28–30, the Savior says: “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” [Matt. 11:28–30]

This is my basic message to each of you, wherever you live, whatever your joys or sorrows, however young or old you may be, at whatever point you may find yourself in this mortal journey of ours. Some of you are where you want to be or you know where you want to go with your lives, and some of you don’t. Some of you seem to have so many blessings and so many wonderful choices ahead of you. Others of you feel, for a time and for whatever reason, less fortunate and with fewer attractive paths lying immediately ahead.

But whoever you are and wherever you find yourself as you seek your way in life, I offer you “the way … and the life” (John 14:6). Wherever else you think you may be going, I ask you to “come unto him” as the imperative first step in getting there, in finding your individual happiness and strength and success.

When two of Christ’s disciples first heard him speak, they were so moved, so spellbound, that they followed him as he left the crowd. Sensing that he was being pursued, Christ turned and asked the two men, “What seek ye?” (John 1:38). Other translations render that simply, “What do you want?”

They answered, “Where dwellest thou?” or “Where do you live?”

And Christ said, “Come and see” (John 1:39). Just a short time later he formally called Peter and others of the new Apostles with the same spirit of invitation, “Come ye after me” (Mark 1:17).

It seems to me that the essence of our lives is distilled down to these two brief elements in these opening scenes of the Savior’s mortal ministry. One element is the question to every one of us, “What seek ye? What do you want?” The second is his answer as to how to get that. Whoever we are and whatever our problems, his response is always the same, forever: “Come unto me.” Come see what I do and how I spend my time. Learn of me, follow me, and in the process I will give you answers to your prayers and rest to your souls.

Beloved friends, I know of no other way for you to succeed or to be happy or to be safe. I know of no other way for you to be able to carry your burdens or find what Jacob called “that happiness which is prepared for the saints” (2 Ne. 9:43). That is why we make solemn covenants based on Christ’s atoning sacrifice, and that is why we take upon us his name. In as many ways as possible, both figuratively and literally, we try to take upon us his identity. We seek out his teachings and retell his miracles. We send latter-day witnesses, including prophets, apostles, and missionaries, around the world to declare his message. We call ourselves his children, and we testify that he is the only source of eternal life. We plead for him to swing open the gates of heaven in our behalf, and we trust everlastingly that he will, based upon our faithfulness.

My heart is full today.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true! I know it, for I have prayed myself and asked.

...DID FALL UPON THEM

...when they were all baptized and had come up out of the water, the Holy Ghost did fall upon them, and they were filled with the Holy Ghost and with fire. 3 Nep 19:13
The disciples had been praying for that which they "most desired"=the Holy Ghost. And being in the right place at the right time--"the Holy Ghost did fall upon them".

How beautiful this parallel is for me. For I have truly witnessed this all week.

Catie invited me to go with her to the temple on Tues. In preparation for this weekend, I thought not to go to the temple until later in the week, but when Catie invited me I felt to go.

On the way to the temple I saw my favorite UTAH pedestrian! I think I have blogged about her before. This woman sits in her wheelchair and with feet and arms she wheels along the streets of Provo. I once jumped out of my car a few years ago to offer her a coat on a very cold morning, but she kindly declined. I always study her and her dedication of wheeling along. Then one morning as I was watching her I wept as I saw deeper into her life. My trip to the temple had me stopped at an interception to wait for her to cross. Can you see?

I do not know the story of why she only has one foot, but seeing her going through the journey, despite challenges, I can not help but take courage for my own life! This woman is doing it with 5 toes and a metal pole. This temple trip allowed her to "fall" right in front of my camera so I could document such a dedicated daughter of God.

Then in the temple, I was absolutely filled. And I wept over the things that happened in the temple. Just small insights that do big things for my soul! I was grateful for Catie's inspired invitation.
The invitation, the woman's street crossing, and the temple visit were blessings that "fell" upon me.

Tues and Wed I was working quite late and Patti made a comment that changed/enhanced the project I was working on--making the ideas I was working on, come easier! Then Thursday night, I felt to go visit a friend, then to the church where a met a mother of a sister, then as I was driving to see a single mother, I saw a car that is never home and the spirit said to stop. I did. And low and behold this amazing girl was at her place and allowed me to come in. We talked, and I was filled. Then to the surprise visit of someone in the family ward. We discussed praying and it was clear she was not sure how to pray. How sweet it was to share the principle of prayer.

I left overwhelmed with gratitude that I would be able to witness God's mercies so much. A couple of phone calls topped off my night as I friend shared that she was had been fully fellowship and a sister who although sick and way to later her time, wanted to call to say she loved me.

Then Friday morning, off to see Yannie get her endowment! One of the workers came out of incitory weeping. She said it was her first time assisting with an ordinance for a live session. She was deeply moved by the chance of getting to look in the eyes of the patron. And her "moved" moved me and we both hugged rejoicing. Then to the celestial room when I spoke with a woman that had just gone through the temple for herself in Oct, and she and her husband are now striving to be sealed. I felt her dedication to God. She spoke of the long battle it had been to get to the temple, but how sweet the fruit was of finally being there. Again, weeping and rejoicing.

After that it was off to a lunch date with Yannie's future in-laws-- and I was impressed with how much love and respect the couple showed for one another. Such consideration.

As I left lunch I received an inspired text from Lizi asking me to name 10 things that make me ridiculously happy. As I listed my 10--I learned somethings about myself. She then text me asking "what would be the most important thing you want your future children to know?" Another question that just solidified everything I had just experienced in the temple. Thanks Lizi girl!!

Then last night brought Sam's surprise phone call and then skype session from China! What a kid! After that it was off with a 100 cookies to the Hodges house for today's wedding. I pulled up to find Elder Hodges on his lawn mower. He motioned for me to just go into the house. As I walked up the stairs I could hear his whistling over the sound of the mower. Truly a "whistle while you work" moment and I could not stop smiling at the musical display of his joy and inner peace--even while he was working!

Then this morning, a beautiful picture Sam shot with his new camera in China! I had to throw it into photoshop to add a saying that came to my mind as I viewed the picture. And as I typed it I was moved by the thought of the great song. (FYI--I did not tweak his picture at all in photoshop - so kuddos to you Sam! Great shot!:)

And now, God led me to read about how the Holy Ghost did "fall" upon the disciples.

...!!

Physically speaking, if something falls and I am not there--I will miss whatever is falling down! Whether that be: blessings, impressions, angels, revelation, guidance, promptings, the spirit, insight, peace, comfort, someone's heart, a brother or sister, a family member, a stranger. Those disciples--had they chosen to sleep in that morning and not be there at the water, the Holy Ghost would have "fallen" down, but not in their bedroom! Spiritually speaking, I don't want to be sleeping in my bedroom when there are things of the spirit to catch or people to rescue from falling. And even times like with dad--when he passed out in the parking lot and I held on to him as long as I could and then with no longer arms or strength I had to let him fall the rest of the way to the pavement--God had allowed me to be there. And although I could not keep him from falling, I was their to at least lessen the angle of the fall and then right after run for help.

Rain drops keep falling on my head seems maybe a better title for this blog. :) Or rather, blessings keep falling on my head. :)

My re-occurring lesson this week is rather more recommitting than anything. I just want to be about my father's business. Whether that is at home, at school or at play-- I just want to do his will and bidding. For that is where my greatest joys in life are.

D&C 64:29 says --
"Wherefore, as ye are agents, ye are on the Lord's errand; and whatever ye do according to the will of the Lord is the Lord's business."
-- Oh I so want to do the "Lord's business". And like President Monson, I too say to the Lord, "If there is an errand that needs to be done, send Bryndi Cloward--I'll do it!" Whether in the walls of my home/family or outside at church, work, WHEREVER.. here am I, send me.

--still a work in progress! I have so much to work on, but the battle is worth fighting.

ONWARD AND UPWARD!!

THE DIVINE NATURE AND DESTINY OF WOMEN

So, I just "happened" (you all know I don't believe in just happened stuff) :) find this talk today and listened to it. I cried. It was an answer to a lot of prayers I have never prayed--but only kept in my heart. Click A The Divine Nature and Destiny of Women to read. Amazing for all women--but also I gave all my brothers and my Dad a copy tonight asking them to please read and then to pass the talk on to their amazing wives.

I used to make screen savers for the computer at church. This one was the last one I made. Inspired off of the hymn, "Jesus, Savior Pilot Me". The definition of a pilot -- SOOOO profound! Makes the song all the more cool! (Click on the picture to get the bigger view.)

The other week I was in the temple, and I apologize I don't know if I have already blogged about this, but while I was in the temple there were a several events that led up to the thought process--but as I conversed in my mind/heart with God I decided that when I don't do something with my whole heart I am really not giving myself all to God. And it is either I am for Him 100% or I am trying to serve two masters. And I know that that can't work! So the thought was, "Bryndi, are you going to give me everything--including things that involve your heart, or aren't you?".

From that day on I promised God that I am His. I am done fighting. I am done being a stink when I get a prompting that is more difficult to follow. I try to always follow, but sometimes my heart is pretty rotten. And if we don't give a gift with all our heart, it profits me nothing. So I promised God I was done being a brat. No matter what, at all costs, my heart involved or not, I am His and I will Do, I will Go, I will Follow.

Well today, after a conversation with Kiss, it dawned on me how much I admired once hearing Elder Scott talk about he had never heard his wife complain. (And he is an apostle! So that had to meant lots of nights alone, with the kids, being the mom and dad.) It dawned on me that when I am going through situations/impressions I don't understand sometimes I am a complainer in my lack of understanding. Really, when I complain/questioning why, I am really just showing an awesome lack of faith.

--But NO MORE--!

I promised Heavenly Father a long time ago that if He would bless me with a righteous priesthood holder for a husband, that no matter what was required of my husband and our lives, I would not complain. Well--husband or not I am committing that I am done showing my doubt through complaining.:) I know, easier said than done, but I truly feel it. We are always setting an example of how we react with the different situations/circumstances in our lives....I am done setting a less then worthy example. :) This means, I am to be faith-filled!

Sam sent a very inspired text to me last night out of response of me reminding him to go to bed. He sent me, as his answer Mosiah 1:17. I read it was convinced he sent me the wrong scripture. But he later called and explained what the scripture had meant for him--when really it was an answer--revelation from God to me!
Therefore, as they were unfaithful they did not prosper nor progress in their journey, but were driven back, and incurred the displeasure of God upon them; and therefore they were smitten with famine and sore afflictions, to stir them up in remembrance of their duty. (Mosiah 1:17)
Sam had very amazing insights about the remembrance of our duty. For me God was/is saying, "Bryndi, the journey I have you on right now can not prosper or progress without faith". And I felt without MY faith.

Sooo--my conclusion for the day--I am not a complainer, but I AM a faith-filled daughter of God. One who is trusting where the Lord is guiding me. And using enough faith that if He wants/needs to preform miracles along my path he can--because I am choosing to be faith filled and believing!

(Note: I am sure I am going to crash and burn with this commitment at times. And I will forget "my duty". But please, if you catch me complaining over not understanding why God is having me walk a certain way, simply say, "Elder Scott's Wife" and that will be a gentle reminder of what example I too want to set.) Thank you in advance. And yes we can still be friends after you rebuke me kindly. :) ha ha

TEMPTATION TO BE HARD

Ha, Heavenly Father has been leading me constantly to read accounts in the scriptures about having/gaining a hard heart--and all the things that lead up to having a hard heart. It is amazing what having a hard heart will do--you forgot your god, you forget promises that have been made, you reason out miracles, personal revelation...as far as I can see there are no perks for having a hard heart other than you get to be totally self deluded and self involved. Never seeking and serving outward but always focused on yourself.

Hel chapter 6 is what I have found to be the out line for the cycle of the heart. How is it after so many revelations, that the temptation to doubt is so strong? I speak only for myself.

This morning as I was reading in 3 Nephi chapter 1, RIGHT after the miracle of the day and night and day without any darkness and the new star appearing vs 22 says, "And it came to pass that from this time forth there began to be lyings sent forth among the people by Satan, to harden their hearts, to the intent that they might not believe in those signs and wonders which they had seen..." and I might add "felt".

Such an outline for my life. The last few weeks have been filled with a crazy amount of direct revelation for me. Revelation that although right now has no immediate pay outs--I cannot deny what I have felt impressed to do. And yet, right after the sweet impressions come, Satan "from [that] time forth" is out to destroy. My logical/worldly brain sets in and the temptation to just be hard hearted=giving up on the impressions I have had--is great...however this girl is not giving in! I have come to the conclusion that a hard heart is one that has no faith.

For me, as I kneel down and pray, trying to cry mightily as Nephi did the night the nephites were going to be destroyed, I too have felt, "Lift up your head and be of good cheer..." (3 Nephi 1:13). I find it so interesting that Nehpi was given permission in a sense to stop praying/worrying over his and his people's current situation because he was told to "lift up" his head. And the scriptures tell us he had been in mighty prayer all day long.

I still am at the conclusion that God has many mighty miracles to preform in my life. He is constantly! Focus on facts and what is or isn't visibly tangible in my life, but every little prompting/insight is a snowflake on my window! There are so many, I can not deny what the Lord is trying to tell me! And I will trust! I am filled with again, with a determination to serve Him, trust Him, follow Him--at all costs. And I will not allow doubt to harden my heart! In all aspects of my life. :)

THE WAY IS PREPARED...WALK THEREIN

The other day I came to my bedroom exhausted from the day. Although tired, God helped me open the scriptures and read through heavy eyes. I was touched and moved by Alma 41:8.

I have made a commitment to accomplish something pretty impossible based on my ability by the beginning of June. It will take nothing short of a miracle, and yet I feel it can be done. I read-
"...the way is prepared that whosoever will may walk therein and be saved."
I honestly don't see a way for this goal to be accomplished, but again, like He does so often, God sent me a scripture to rescue my soul from losing hope. My way is prepared, and I will walk therein! Ha, literally!

God is so good! I glory in His kindness in bringing about the Book of Mormon. In darkened days and when hearts are heavy, the light of it's pages pierces my soul and I am illuminated! And when days are already sunny and bright and my heart is light, I am lifted as the scriptures say on eagles wings with the truths therein!

So moral--your life can only get better--by reading, pondering, studying, and applying the truths and principles from/in The Book of Mormon! http://scriptures.lds.org/en/bm/contents

A way is prepared for each of us!

WALK THEREIN!

DECLARING HIS DOINGS!

For what ever reason Satan has been out to destroy lately! Ha, I know, what an understatement.

Yesterday I was not particularly down--I like to count myself as an optimist. I am convinced there is a silver lining in any situation, problem, struggle, and consequence. But for whatever reason, my emotions have been close to the surface these past few weeks.

My sweet visiting teacher texted me that she would like to stop by and that she was embarrassed for stopping by on the last day of the month. I don't think anyone should beat themselves up for visiting teaching--especially if it is the last day of the month! The Lord gives us deadlines for a reason! Recommends have expiration dates, callings in the church are for periods of times, and home teaching/visiting teaching are asked to be accomplished before the end of the month! The deadline is there to give us a goal point. My dad says "If you don't have goal posts [declared/written down], you will end up running in circles."

With visiting teaching, the goal post is before the month is over. Now, by choosing to accomplish the goal before the end of the month, usually is a great stress reliever. The pressure is off. Same with my weekly temple trips. My goal is to go to the temple before the end of the week. Same blessings for going on Tuesday as there are on Friday or Saturday--the difference is the pressure that happens at the end of the week and the stress of trying to actually get to the temple weighs heavily if I wait until the end of the week to go.

Oh what a tangent for just wanting to say, that I was very proud of this sweet sister for coming even the last day! She hit the goal with flying colors in my book.

When my visiting teacher sent me a text to make a visit, I literally had a window of 30 mins in which she could come. Knowing that she lives nearly 30 mins away from me, I just didn't think it was going to come to pass. But sure enough she text me and said she would be to my place by 6. After weeping a little I smiled and looked up towards the ceiling. I knew that God was sending me this sister...

6 came and she was at my place. We sat and chatted about the exciting things happening in her life. She told me of the Lord telling her to not give up on a particular kid. And then she was told through personal revelation that she needed to tell the kid that she liked him. WOW, I love following promptings, but that would have been a hard one to follow--especially when she thought the kid had no interest in her, they had never dated, in fact she has never had a boyfriend/relationship before! What a trust!

She followed the prompting and told the kid she liked him and much to her surprise he said he had been dropping hints of liking her for months--she was completely clueless to them! :) Bishop just gave a few girls some counsel that when we think that we are dropping obvious hints to the boys--we are not, they are clueless! We need to be bold and blunt with how we feel about them. Obviously this goes a little on both sides! ;) ha ha.

She then told me that on the way to my house, she was listening to her ipod and she received the impression that she needed to start praying. So this faithful sister, being obedient to the revelation given to her, immediately turned off her ipod and started to say a prayer while she drove. She didn't know what to pray for, but just started to pray over her family, her boyfriend etc. All of a sudden she found everyone on the freeway coming to a halt. She slammed on her brakes and those in front of her and back of her did the same. To try to avoid hitting the car in front of her, she pulled out into the side lane. (I am not sure if it was the carpool lane or the right shoulder area??) but at that very moment of pulling out of her lane she was told by the spirit to go back to the lane she was in. As she swerved back--still trying to bring her car to a halt without hitting the car in front of her, a truck that was somewhere behind her pulled violently (from trying to stop) into the lane she had just been in-- he was also trying to avoid hitting everyone. She said he almost side swiped her car anyway, but had she been in the lane, she would have been hit by him for sure. It could have been fatal.

We both wept with gratitude. Gratitude that the spirit prompted and even more that she was willing to immediately follow.

I am convinced that rule, rather then the exception, is that miracles happen over the times when we are tending to His flock! Whether it be VT or HT or just doing our callings. God opens doors, sends angles, and often gives us wings to fly through impossible flaming hoops and invisible passageways! So was it yesterday for my sweet friend.

So was she just doing her visiting teaching?! Regardless of what you thing, can I take a little bit of a snotty approach and tell you what I know?!

I know that God sent my visiting teacher yesterday to remind me of how I used to pray! I have become more casual in my praying habits. I still kneel Morning, noon, and night, and try always to have a prayer in my heart, but the faith in my prayers has dropped a few notches. I have not been praying of the smallest of things, and leaving my mouth service for those that seem to be big and pressing. But this sweet sister, I KNOW the Lord sent to remind me, "Bryn, you are to pray over everything. Council with me in all your doings. You used to, remember? Even over little things. Remember what prayers I answered, small, big, insignificant to the natural man... REMEMBER!" Okay- so I didn't hear these words, but I felt them. I felt them in my heart and my mind. My sweet visiting teacher, though she isn't aware of her visits impact on me, was His tool in reminding me tenderly and kindly that there are power in prayers. And I need to go back to how I used to pray. Praying with great power and faith. I felt no reprimand, just a simple assurance and a tender reminder that how I used to do things was good, and okay and that I could go back to that way of praying.

After my sweet sister's visit in my only 30 min window for the day, last day of the month-just a girl wanting to show God that she would do what he asked her to do, blessed me deeply/significantly. I was filled with a resloution that I had habits that I need to cling back to. And all of this came, not in condemnation, or reprimanding--it all came in love and peace. A quietness... to stand a little taller, be a little more faith filled, to pray over and for anything/anyone! To adopt back into my life the things that I know work for me regardless of how others view them.

So with this thought... At the end of my scripture study today, I was thumbing through my Book of Mormon and opened to the 2 Nephi 22. Such a good chapter--compare to Isaiah 12:
And in that day thou shalt say: O Lord, I will praise thee; though thou wast angry with me thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedest me.
Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid; for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation.
Therefore, with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
And in that day shall ye say: Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
Sing unto the Lord; for he hath done excellent things; this is known in all the earth.
Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion; for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

In my scriptures, when the Lord answers something in my life with a verse or I feel the spirit confirming what I read was true--I put a spiral swirl over the verse and write out to the side what revelation I received or I state what the answer was to me.
...This is very personal to me and I do not share it for me but for the praise of God and for the fact I just feel I should. My swirl is over vs 4. In my scriptures I wrote this last year:

"And in that day shall ye say: Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted."

"2.22.08 - I have been struggling with the idea of sharing all the miracles I see with others. I have not wanted the praise of men- and I don't want them to think for one moment that it is because of how I prayed or anything to do with me. This past week I have pondered over stop telling people of His goodness--this scripture came with the feeling and words that I do need to share and I will continue to pray to the Lord and ask that he allow me to give Him all praise and all glory. This scripture gave me much comfort."

So may it be known to anyone God has read this blog--I DECLARE HIS DOINGS!! I speak of things I know for myself. God is a God of miracles. He does answer prayers! Small ones, big ones... ALL SINCERE ones! The smallest sparrow falls and he knows it. We are much greater then a sparrow (although I think they are pretty great.) We must follow our impressions and promptings! They can be felt more when we sincerely, pray and study the scriptures daily. God will give us missionary opportunities! We just have to ask! He does open doors, and amazingly enough he allows us/gives us the ability to A.S.K.! Thanks for dad reminding me, A=Ask S=Seek K=Knock and in return of using our agency to A.S.K we will receive R.F.O. R=Receive F=Find O=Open.

How does one receive things from the Holy Ghost, one might ask?! It all starts from the fruit of Repentance!!! Moroni 8:25-26
Repentance=
Baptism=by faith=
fulfilling commandments=
brings a remission of sins=
which brings meekness/lowliness of heart=
with those in place
COMETH the VISITATION of the Holy Ghost=
which fills us with hope and PERFECT love=
which love endures by diligence=
unto prayer=
until the end shall come=
DWELLING WITH GOD!!

All those things are the fruits of repentance. What a powerful tool I need in my life every day!!

I love that it says that the end "shall" come. There IS hope smiling brightly before us! It's not if the end will come, or when, IT SHALL COME!! That means an end to our suffering, or woes, or our sorrows, our strugglings.

I am declaring that I know that God lives. I know that Jesus is the Christ. I know that God hears our prayers and answers them. Big ones, small ones! I know we can become better. I know we can have hope and should have faith in the things God has told us will happen.

Oh to be born in a day when there is so much truth on the earth! Oh to my wonderful parents who had the courage to have this number 5--to put aside their desires/dreams so that I could fulfill/have mine. My soul rejoices and I am consumed with gratitude, wonder and awh.

Joseph Smith is a true prophet. I know he did see God the Father and Jesus Christ. Through him, the gospel was restored to the earth.

The atonement is for all of us to partake of daily. Christ is the author and finisher of my faith!

I testify that He lives!
-In the Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Declaring his Doings!!!

UNDERSTANDING THE BLOSSOMS

What an amazing week from God! Honestly, there is just not room or time enough to describe the workings of His tender mercies!

This past week when the snow storm hit, I admit, I went through the emotions of bitter and sweet. Sweet because I love fresh snow. Bitter because I love (almost more than fresh snow), blossoms on the trees. The blossoms, in just one week have, awwed the streets of Springville and Provo. The blossoms only stay a few short weeks, but this storm surely cut the life span of all the blossoms.

As I got into work and shook off the snow from my coat, I over heard some girls talking. Vanessa was concerned about the 3 blossom trees we have in the parking lot. She said when she got in to work, some of the tree's branches were sagging to the ground. So in an effort to save the trees, she went out and shook the limbs she could reach on each tree. Her hope was to get enough snow off so the tree branches wouldn't touch the ground. She talked about finding a broom so she could reach the higher branches. I thought that was a little on the extreme side. After all it was still heavily snowing outside. (Oh how wrong was I!)

I didn't think any more of what I heard and went to start my work.

By the end of the day, the snow had already started to melt from the 24 hour dump that had just occurred. The sun was shining and the birds were singing. I pulled out of the parking lot and headed for my church building, when not even driving 30 secs, I started to realize the magnitude of the snow storm. I found several trees that had been badly broken. Whole massive branches had been broken in half. I started seeing so many that my heart became sick.

I pulled my car over (mind you there were no shoulders on the road I was driving and I made quite a few cars not so happy with me) but I just had to take pictures of the damage done by one snow storm.

Blossom trees, pretty developed, had significant gashes from where their branches had become too heavy from the snow.

My heart was sick. On this one particular tree, this huge branch, full branch, had broken off. As I drove down the road, I started seeing more and more trees like this. It was a common occurrence. By the end of the night without hesitation I can say I counted well over 50 blossom trees that had some type of crack/brake in their branches.

I started thinking of all those people I love. Friends, family and particularly the Sisters in my ward. I pondered how we can all relate to these trees.

In the dead of winter, the snow comes, then ice storms... trees all lay dormant. I don't think I have ever seen a tree in the winter that has cracked or had a branch broken off. How true that is to life. When we are in our winter, refusing to open up our testimony or show our light or "open to God" the storms come and go and we are just a cold/lifeless tree. But it is when have the courage to open up unto god... when we find life in the gospel and living the commandments. That is our time to blossom!

I will finish that thought, but let me jump to the rest of the story.

Because I had seen all these broken trees, I was really anxious to see the trees at my work. The ones Vanessa had lovingly--shook.

The next morning came and on my drive to work from the temple, I was again sickened like the day before to see all the cracks and brakes--this time I was looking at 900 E Trees and not East Bay Blvd Trees. As I pulled up to work, I turned to look at the three trees we have in our parking lot.

Whole! One tree had a tiny brake (this is in comparison to everything else I had seen) and the other two were completely whole! WHOLE!! And yet on the very same street, 30 secs away in a car bigger and smaller trees had big cracks/brakes in them. But the trees in my parking lot were just fine!

Okay, okay, so you totally know where I am going with this! But nonetheless I am still going there!

VISITING AND HOME TEACHING!!!

You have someone that you have been called to watch over. Maybe someone strong in their testimony of the Savior. Maybe someone not so strong. Maybe someone who is still dormant in their faith. Maybe they just don't know that they know. Regardless of what state they are in, we are all like the blossom trees. Do we know when there is a storm in their life? Are we apart of their life enough to know when their branches are hanging low. Are we in contact and intune with the spirit when it comes to caring/watching/tending to their needs?

While I was stopped at a stop light I marveled with how full a couple of the blossom trees were.
I thought that these trees were just fine. No need to worry. They looked like they had survived just fine. Well that is what I thought until I searched the tree for any signs of breakage. Sadly, though the tree did a good job of hiding among all the blossoms, I found it, a brake in the upper top of the branches. Can you see the brake below? (You can click on the picture for a better view)

Go do the center of the picture then slightly over just a little to the left. Do you see it? I hadn't noticed it at first. But how true is this for all of us! Everyone is always dealing with something. They put on a beautiful full mask, but everyone has struggles of their own or are worried over others. Everyone is, or knows someone. So when I visit teach, am I sensitive to the un spoken/or unseen wounds/struggles/temptations/addictions/pains? Do I even care enough to know if they have those area's in their life?!

At a stop light, I saw a white blossom tree limb just laying on the side walk, broken--alone--lifeless.
Do I notice/or am in touch enough to know when someone is struggling--feeling broken--alone--lifeless?

Everyone has burdens! Friday as I left work I pulled down a street and saw this massive blossom tree broken in three different places.
The brakes were pretty huge! Any of us can fall. None of us are numb to the temptations of life, although that would be an awesome goal!! But even the strongest member needs to be nourished and feed by the good word of god. By teachers who really care about what is going on in their lives.

Okay, so you can see the passion I had with this 48 hour adventure. So impressed was I by Vanessa at work. And her little act of shaking off the tree limbs.

1. She was aware enough of the three trees in the parking lot to have concern for them when a storm hit.

2. She was aware enough of the trees/seeing them daily (and I know for us, we usually don't do daily, but being in enough contact that we know) to tell a difference in the perkiness/droopiness of ones branches.

3. She had concern enough to shake the limbs. This took extra effort. Defiantly not convenient to go out during a snow storm, trace through the snow, stand under a tree and shake the snow off limbs, which would in return dumb their [the tree's snow] snow on you. But she did it! (Some times promptings come to make a surprise visit or a call... or to go visit/check in even after your monthly visit has already been completed. But are we sensitive to their needs and the daily/weekly/monthly/yearly storms they face?)

I don't know how fun it is to be shaken--perhaps the tree thought, "Vanessa, what are you doing to me?! Leave me alone. I don't want you to shake my limbs." Thank goodness she did!

What happens when we meet others that for whatever reasons, have pretty big wounds from whatever...? Well we surely just don't leave their broken limb hanging!
I was shocked to find on Friday that many of these trees had not been taken care of. And as you can tell from this picture, because the limb was not cut off (taken care of), any added pressure, you can see how much further down this limb might brake/tare!

Going back to the new blossoms, when we are sensitive to those around us and get to know them, we will be able to notice when they are taking hold of gospel truths for the first time, or are reestablishing their commitment level. We will know because they will start to bloom and open unto the lord. And it is in/with these tender moments when we need to be extra mindful/watchful over their conditions and what we can do for them.

Friday morning, before work, I drove to the temple and awwed over the fact that I could not find one broken blossom tree at the temple. --! We include the temple consistently/frequently in our life and help it be a goal in the lives of those we teach--we will find that we can withstand the storms of life. The temple shields us with power. When we are reminded of our covenants that we make there, we become filled with greater desire to keep blooming to him! The temple must be a focus.

I will never look at a Blossom Tree the same.

STAKE MEETINGS-TEACH?!

After getting home on Friday somewhat late, I was excited to have a moment to myself to clean. But so strong was the impression that I needed to make a movie of what God had just taught me through the Blossom trees. I start

ed on the movie, somewhat reluctant because I really wanted to clean my place. Carson stopped by unexpectedly and what a treat it was to have him over. We haven't hung out just the two of us since before he and Nyk got married. It was so good for me to be around/talk with him.

Before he and Nyk headed back to WY, I asked if they wouldn't mind having family prayer with me. (Ha, the family was me and them!) But I felt impressed that we needed to have prayer and that Carson should be the one to say it. It was beautiful/sincere and I felt the spirit strongly. I must admit I was a little hesitant to ask them to pray with me, but that thought only lasted for a sec! Prayer, I feel, is one of the most powerful tools one can have in their life. IF we can stay true to sincere communion with God then we will be open/worthy for the spirit to dwell with us, we will be able to be better at remembering Him and I believe we will have a desire to be and do good. Okay, little plug in for PRAYER IS AMAZING! DO IT!

After Chick and Carson left I felt I needed to head back to putting together the movie. Around 9:30 I noticed I missed a call from the Stake RS President, Sister Hutchison. I called her back and she asked if I would give the closing prayer in our stake meetings the next morning. After agreeing, I am not sure how we got talking, but I mentioned I went to the RS training up in SLC and how excited I was with the things Julie B. Beck had talked about. Sister Hutchison excitedly asked if I would speak at the end of the meetings and asked if I could type up my notes from the Salt Lake meeting. I agreed, hung up the phone and went back to putting together the movie. 1:30 AM came and I went to sleep happy that the Lord had put together what I felt was a significant clip.

6 AM came all too quick, but I was up and out on the track with Jinger. It was walk 6 mins and jog one min training. We are just at the start of training for a 10 K . Mind you I will not be running in a race, but I want so badly to learn how to jog and the Lord has provided Jinger as an answer to my prayer. When I got home, I had a little over an hour to shower/get ready and make the handout for the stake meeting.

As I jumped out of the shower I felt impressed that I needed to show the movie clip at the stake meeting. Mind you, this meeting was for training the RS presidencies about Visiting Teaching. And when the Stake President called me the night before she had no intentions of asking me to teach/share what I had learned from the Salt Lake training...How could I now call her and tell her I wanted to play a clip at her meeting. Talk about inviting yourself to take over! (So NO WAY, was my thought, but again, I know better then to go against an impression.)

I got the guts up (I admit I had to pray for the guts) and ask her if she wouldn't mind me sharing this little video clip. She said it was fine. (Few!) :) I know I am pathetic!

There was a knock at my door. I ran in my rob and hesitantly opened the door. It was Jinger with a little bag of banana bread slices. She had to run, but dropped them off and she asked/begged me to not back out on a commitment I had made. Her little service of bringing me 4 little slices of bread turned out to be a huge tender mercy of the Lord... I will finish this thought in a min.

So I am now 30 mins until the meeting started and I was just typing up my handout of notes. As I typed I kept stewing over the thought of how I didn't want to overstep my stewardship. Last min training at the stake meetings... showing a clip that they, the stake leaders, had not approved of first... I got a little sick at what others would think. And really more then that, I was worried if I was stepping over my bounds/stewardship.

As I was driving (3 mins to get to a a church 7 mins away) I pondered over if I could really do/should do this training. In my heart I just knew the meetings would go over and I would be asked to speak when everyone would be expecting to leave--oh I was completely un easy about the whole notion.

While I drove, I gratefully ate the two small slices of Jinger's banana bread. I thanked the Lord as I recognized his tender mercy. I was hungry from being up so early/exercising but had been too busy to grab a quick bite of anything. After the stake meetings, I knew there would be a little breakfast, but I was sure grateful for the slices of bread to give me something until then.

As I got on the freeway, the battle of what to do for the meeting still cankered my soul. And for whatever reason I leaned over the stirring wheel towards the windshield and looked up. And at that moment I saw what looked between a swan, crane, and pelican fly nearly on top of my car-on the freeway- and then fly away. There were no other birds to be found, and it was so quick and so different looking, that I still don't know what type of bird it was. But my heart immediately stopped it's battle. Here was my confirmation... I would follow through. I would show my clip and not worry about stepping on toes at the meeting.

The meeting went amazing! We watched the movie "Feed My Sheep" and I could not keep from weeping. Two little kids go to care for baby lambs all summer with their Dad. A storm had killed all the adult sheep. With the parents gone, and the little lambs not knowing how to eat in a trough because they had never been taught by their mothers, these little kids had to bottle feed every lamb. There was so many little lambs and only two doing the feedings. Many of the lambs were starving to death. Every morning they would find 6 or 7 dead little lambs.

The girl who was tending to the sheep happened to name of of the lambs. She loved the lamb and it followed her faithfully everywhere. One morning she wakes and finds the lamb gone. She goes searching for the lamb and finds it a far way off dead. She gently picks up the now cold lamb and takes it to her father crying. She asks if anything can be done. And as he patted her head and just let her do some needed crying she looked up at her dad and asked, "Isn't there anyone that will help feed our sheep?" To this, my cheeks became uncontrollably wet. I have prayed and cried almost those exact words to Heavenly Father on several occasions. To see sisters/brothers/loved ones fall away, or become spiritually dead--so many that I believe would not have fallen/drifted--had they been properly cared for/feed through the home teaching and visiting teaching programs. I have had some countless nights where I have knelt in anguish of the drop off of flock members. Ones that needed not drop off had they only had the support of loving visiting teachers. No one is a number, but a spiritual daughter/son of God! And just like the trees, there are so many that could be spared, or at least protected from the storms had they just been looked after/cared for by the people over them.

Well true enough to the impressions in the morning, the meeting was already 30 mins over the time limit by the time I was to get up. Even during the presentation the opposition threaten to destroy and make me shut my mouth and just sit down. I am sure to the reader of this, I sound so nuts, but this is how I felt. The meeting ended, and the Lord had gotten me through my moments. I felt heaven had engulfed the room.

Because the meeting had ended later then planned, I dashed out the door to help some girls with their visiting teaching. And as I drove to the appointment, knowing I would not be home for several more hours, I saw the last two slices of banana bread in the bag Jinger gave me. My eyes became wet as I pondered over how the Lord had provided for my needs. Would I have been okay not eating until after 2 when I got home... you bet! But my Father in heaven just proved yet again that he is into details. And he had detailed out for me (by having a wonderful sister in law who I had just been with that morning) run over before she rushed to Salt Lake, and drop off 4 slices of banana bread. Something she has never done before. And here I had breakfast and lunch!! And all because our God, is a God of details/love/kindness/miracles!

Now you may ask, why was it so important to give the lesson and show my little clip? Well I will never know. I have some hunches, for I was able to talk to someone after the meeting that I normally would not have talked to, but even if that was just a little test to see if I would follow through--don't follow my example. Do it, and don't worry/question. Sure I was willing to do it, but my weaknesses, doubts clouded my faith with "what will other stake members think of me if I take up this time/present?" Oh to be quick to obey, and not complain/question in the process, is a beautiful thing I need to work on.

MOSIAH 26:13-15,19

Tonight, I felt impressed I had to get this blog up. But I had not read the Book of Mormon for the day. I just opened to Mosiah 26 and just started to read starting in 13. I started to cry. The Lord knows what is in our hearts! He knows our desires. He knows when we are trying to be better. And he also knows how to comfort and bless us. Don't get me wrong, today was amazing! And there many choice moments basking in His spirit. But even with all that... He led me to read Alma's conflict which seemed completely identical to my feelings/heart this evening. I didn't mean to, but the likening unto ourselves, just came by the spirit as I read. The Lord was talking to me--I cried. And in gratitude thanked Him for allowing me to read such verses. God is, a God of love/compassion.

I know that God lives. I know that Jesus is the Christ, the Prince of peace, the Holy one. I know that they love us. I know that prayers are answered and can be guided/led daily. I am so thankful for repentance! It is real! We can be cleansed and made whole through Christ's atonement.

I hope to leave this life like President Henry B. Eyring quoted his dad while he was approaching his death (this month's Ensign article Teaching True Doctrine):

"My father...talked to me during the nights as he approached death. He spoke of joyous reunions that were coming soon in the spirit world...

At one point I asked him if he had some repenting to do. He smiled. He chuckled softly as he said, “No, Hal, I’ve been repenting as I went along.”"

Thank goodness Heavenly Father, through His Son's atonement has provided a way for me to repent each day and to renew my soul each week...

And may I clarify a bit on my feelings of Visiting/Home teaching. There are times when we will visit and limbs will still brake... and trees will still remain or even choose to go dormant. But we, the Lord's helpers in tending to needs in the field, can be assured that we will know what God would have us do for such trees. We must have the faith, that he will help us/guide us as we lovingly/willingly tend to the branches and our trees.

Oh it has been an amazing handful of days.

The church is true!
